Cabo de São Vicente

Fortaleza do Beliche

The economic importance of the fishing frame (almadrava) located in Beliche inlet motivated the construction of a fortress whose main objective was to protect fishermen from attack by pirates and corsairs. This fortress was seriously damaged by the attack by the privateer Francis Drake in 1587 and by the earthquake of 1755, having been deactivated in the 19th century and restored for tourist purposes in the 20th century.

Fortaleza de Sagres

Sagres, a crossroads area between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic Ocean, a port for fishermen and traders from various nations, but also an area ravaged by corsairs. The imposing fortification of Sagres is the human extension of the natural rock and was for centuries the main battleground of a geo- strategic maritime defensive system.


Burgau, located in the western region of the Algarve, under the municipality of Vila do Bispo, is an old fishing village. Currently, living mainly from tourism, its most notable attraction is the small beach of Praia de Burgau, surrounded by cliffs that protect it from the strong winds characteristic of Barlavento.

Ponta da Piedade

Ponta de Piedade is a geographical accident near the city of Lagos, in the Algarve region of Portugal. It is made up of a cape surrounded by several cliff-like rock formations, up to 20 m high, and is one of the most interesting tourist attractions in the region.

Praia do Camilo (Beach)

Praia do Camilo is a Portuguese beach, located in the Algarve region, municipality of Lagos. Small in size, it lies between cliffs, with particular rock formations. Access to the beach is via a long staircase.

Praia do Alemão (Beach)

Praia do Alemão, also known as Barranco de Canas, has a pine forest at the top of the cliff that becomes a real windbreak on windy days. Limited to the west by the rock formation of Ponta de João d’Arens and to the east by Praia do Vau, the sands of Praia do Alemão are peaceful and with a still very natural environment.

Tavira is distributed along the two banks of the river Gilão, in an intricate of narrow streets and white houses that you feel like walking without haste. Praia do Barril

Barril beach is located roughly in the middle of Ilha de Tavira, a narrow strip of fine white sand. The tourist equipment on the beach was adapted from an old tuna fishing frame and on the site you can still see the original houses and some objects from the toil, as well as a set of large anchors placed in the surrounding area of the beach.
