Amesterdão ou Amsterdã é a capital, e a maior cidade dos Países Baixos, situada na província Holanda do Norte. Seu nome é derivado de uma represa (dam) no rio Amstel, o rio onde fica a cidade. A cidade é conhecida por seu porto histórico, seus museus de fama internacional, sua zona de meretrício (Red Light District, o "Bairro da Luz Vermelha"), seus coffeeshops liberais, e seus inúmeros canais que levaram Amsterdã a ser chamada a "Veneza do Norte". Amsterdão tem 761 262 residentes (2009), enquanto que sua área metropolitana tem cerca de 2 milhões de habitantes.
